- 1). Put the vehicle in park.
- 2). Decide which side you will begin your adjustment.
- 3). Locate the rubber stopper on the back of the brake drum. The stopper covers the small window that provides access to the adjustment wheel. The adjustment wheel engages the brake shoe mechanism and moves the brake shoes in or out. The adjustment wheel has teeth the brake spoon can turn to make the necessary adjustment.
- 4). Engage the adjustment wheel with the brake spoon.
- 5). Rotate the wheel clockwise for the right wheel or counterclockwise for the left wheel, until the brake shoe contacts the drum. The process will take about 20 minutes.
