I found out about this campground from friends, and I tent camped there in June 2009.
Describe your camping trip:
Large sites right on the Tahquamenon River in red pines made for a very scenic settings. Saw and heard some sandhill cranes. The waterfalls in the rest of the state park were beautiful.
Pros: Large sites, beautiful setting. Access to flush toilets and showers in modern part of campground.
Cons: Not the best biking unless you get on M123, and lots of mosquitos. If you don't bathe in DEET, a head net may be necessary.
Nearby attractions: Whitefist Point, Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum.
Further comments: The rustic camping was first class.
