It is widely know that the Iranians are interfering with the United States' efforts in both Afghanistan and Iran.
And yet, we do nothing about it.
Some would say this is the prudent action, but if you are a member of the armed forces risking your life and getting shot at, I bet you don't necessarily see it that way.
Neither did my dad in Vietnam as Russian made Migs would run for the parallel knowing we wouldn't chase them there, as per our own rules of engagement.
Not long ago, I was discussing all this with a college student, somewhat well-versed on war and history from a US perspective and after the dialogue he said; "we are not invincible and our troops must first accomplish the task at hand in Afghanistan before we burden them with further objectives.
" Meaning we shouldn't be starting a way with Iran right now, just because they are killing US and NATO troops in Afghanistan.
However, since Iran is in our way of accomplishing our goals, and they do so purposely, and if we fail to answer to this we will lose both the Afghanistan and Iraqi war efforts.
Thus, at some point, soon hopefully, we must take the fight to the enemy.
We cannot rely on a war time President who is laughed at by his generals, and wants to keep voting "present" when it comes to such key decisions.
Weakness is sensed by our adversaries and they are taking advantage of this.
Remember; Victory goes to the bold.
Karl von Clausewitz's theory on pre-emption is correct.
If we fail to act, we've already lost.
We've spent nearly a trillion dollars over there, and we have some work to do, if we want to win this thing.
It's time to show just how strong this military is, and law down the law to rogue nations who sponsor terrorists.
