If you study the media events surrounding the defense, military, and intelligence industries then you know that a Chinese Submarine surfaced alongside a US Aircraft Carrier during the first set of Naval War Games with South Korea and the United States.
This was right after a North Korean submarine sunk a S.
Korean warship unprovoked.
Now then for the Chinese to do this is a bold, and somewhat dangerous stunt, and it is so reminiscent of the cold-war games between Russia and the US Military.
Indeed, with the Russians, it's all friendly and it is still going on today - flybys, and testing of the Northern airspace too.
But we know it is them, and thus, we probably enjoy the drills.
And the Chinese of course, made a big statement with their little "SURPRISE!" maneuver there in doing that.
Okay yes, I see that - still, if we didn't see it coming, then we must realize we are forced to do better at detecting then we must up the ante and do better to hold the advantage.
Whatever it takes, we can't risk a carrier group in the future, that is an unacceptable loss, so we have to do better, like yesterday.
It is my contention that we need to improve our US Naval capability, it's not good enough yet.
Sure, it's the best in the world, so far, but you know, it's just not really America, or Naval Tradition to be the best, we must be better than our best.
Not long ago, an acquaintance of mine explained how big the oceans of the world are and how the US Navy is busy to secure maritime safety world-wide.
That's great but if that is an excuse for not seeing a Chinese Submarine under one of our aircraft carriers, then take that excuse and shove it.
We can do better than this and last time I checked maritime challenges I see challenges such as in the Straits of Taiwan, Arabian Sea off the Gulf of Aden, or the Japanese Sea? I'd say there is work to do.
So, I don't want anyone to tell me they have it under control until it is - 100% safe and under full control.
Please consider all this - because we can do better than that.
