- 1). Place a large piece of red construction paper on the child's head and wrap it around his head until it forms a hat shape. While holding down the paper, wrap duct tape around his head to create the hat's brim.
- 2). Remove the hat from the child's head and fold all of the sides underneath, taping them under the hat as you go along. You will want the back side of the hat to be larger than the front and the sides should be shorter than the front. Look at an image of a fireman's hat to compare the shape if necessary.
- 3). Cut out a rectangle shape from plain white paper and write the child's favorite number, age or name on the piece of paper with a marker or pen. Use glue or double-sided tape to attach it to the front of the fireman's hat.
