- 1). Find a CGI proxy directory site (see Resources). CGI proxies do not appear in web searches and do not advertise. Once they are accessed, the company proxy will detect it and put it on the blacklist. For this reason, the CGI proxy servers change their address frequently and rarely retain the same address for more than a couple of days. The directories are updated constantly and give an up-to-date status of available CGI proxy servers.
- 2). Read down the records in the directory. Each line will give a link to the site, given as the site name. Following this will be a number of attributes that may include country, security and length of time in operation. Choose the newest service listed in you home country. If you are using the proxy to get around a block offering services only to people in a certain country, choose a proxy in that country.
- 3). Click the link through to your chosen CGI proxy. This will open in a new window.
- 4). Scroll past all the advertising on the site. There will be one active field that is an address field, optionally with a button next to it. This is the service you have been seeking. Entering your target website address in this field will allow you to view a website banned on your network.
