Cam"Ron Mixtapes - The Early Years

In the world of hip hop today, there are few artists that have been respected in the industry as long as Cam'ron.
Cam'ron mixtapes have been part of a career that has spanned from the early 1990's to the current day, in an industry where many artists become a flash in the pan.
Although he has a very successful career today, the early years for Cam'ron were not easy.
Cam'ron was born and raised on the streets of Harlem, listening to hip hop music with his childhood friends and future rap stars, Mase and Jim Jones.
While in high school, he showed a great deal of promise as a basketball player but his grades did not allow him to take the basketball scholarships that were offered to him.
After dropping out of college in the mid 1990's, Cam'ron began selling drugs in Harlem and working on his own hip hop songs.
The first step that Cam'ron took into the music industry was with a group called Children of the Corn.
The group consisted of Cam'ron and Mase, as well as rappers Big L and Bloodshed.
Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 1997 when Bloodshed was killed in an automobile accident.
Cam'ron went on to make Cam'ron mixtapes, while the other remaining members pursued their own solo careers.
Cam'ron finally got the big break that he had been waiting for when he had the opportunity to meet The Notorious B.
