At the home of a friend I often visit, sets a beautiful black Baby Grand piano.
It is elegant.
My friend keeps it well cleaned and shiny...
even the bench is treated with the same care.
It sets as if he wishes to display it to everyone who comes to his house...
as if he has a little bit of pride attached to it.
It's right in the middle of a Great room and even if you tried, you couldn't miss seeing it when you walked in.
When asked, it doesn't take too much encouraging on my part to get him to play a tune.
The tone that comes from this beautiful piece of furniture is absolutely wonderful to listen to.
When my friend plays that piano, he plays with a real passion for harmony and melody that is often overlooked in today's hurried life.
I enjoy listening to the musical sound made when a skillful person "tickles" the ivories.
I have a real love for music anyway, but when the piano is played while I'm in the room, I give permission to my imagination to take me away to another world.
Music, in its true form, is essentially the plunking, beating on, or the blowing into, man crafted mechanical "instruments", for the lack of a better word.
They are made of just about any type of material known to man and usually have a known history about the origin or the creation of such instrument.
But when you get past all that "stuff", you come to a realization that whatever these are made of or how they are used, the sound made through them by the skillful talents of an individual is sometimes awesome, and oftentimes even thrilling.
Some of my fondest memories are of a time when we, as family members, would gather around the piano as my Aunt played several songs as we sang until we couldn't talk or she couldn't play anymore.
Those times are gone now, but I still remember how I loved to hear her play those wonderful melodies I listen to certain piano players on the radio, or on old records, and on CDs when I have time.
Every time I do this, I try to imagine being there as this was being recorded.
How great it would be to be there when these individuals created that atmosphere around the music, the sound, and that piano.
I was told by my friend that it's not really that difficult to learn how to play the piano.
There are several factors that are important that one must remember if he/she is going to play the piano like the professionals do, or like any other person does, who has a passion for great piano music.
One very important thing is to have an instructor that has devised a method that will help any student of the piano to learn quickly but effectively.
Some people like to play the piano as a recreation and more times than not, their playing is not all that good In addition to that, they usually only know a few songs they can play all the way through.
That's usually attributed to a fact that they probably learned to play the piano casually and most likely by memory instead of by the notes on the musical score.
It's far better to play the piano with a confidence that only comes from proper training, patience, and practice than to play one with none of those qualities.
While there are many people who play the piano well, they would probably admit that if they had taken piano lesson from a good teacher, they might be a better and more confident player.
