- 1). Find your Congressperson's email, phone or office address. The House of Representatives website includes a search function to find your representative. You can look them up using your state and zip code. A form will automatically open where you can enter your question and inquiry and then email the Congressperson. Many representatives restrict email access to constituents, or will only respond to constituents.
- 2). Visit the Congressperson. Representatives have local offices and an office in Washington DC next door to the Capitol Building. Congresspersons spend time in both offices, so call any office and find out their schedule. Most Congresspersons have times where they meet with constituents. Their offices are always open and other staff are always available. Contact information appears on their websites. The House of Representatives website gives contact information. Contactingthecongress.org also has contact information for every Congressperson.
- 3). Attend a town hall meeting. Congresspersons have the duty to report their activities in Washington to constituents. Many of them periodically schedule town hall meetings to give constituents the opportunity to voice concerns and ask questions. These meetings are generally announced on the Congressperson's website. You can also call the local office and ask when and where the next town hall meeting will occur. Many town hall meetings are scheduled when Congress is not in session, particularly over the summer.
