New Year's Eve Gag Gifts

    Novelty Eyeglasses

Novelty eyeglasses are widely available at party and dollar stores. They can be worn throughout the night at any party or outdoor event without intruding too much on people's outfits. There are several varieties of novelty eyeglasses, including the traditional New Year's variety with frames in the shape of the year. Oversized glasses add humor to a party and heart-shaped glasses are stylish enough for fashionistas to wear. These types of glasses are inexpensive and portable; you can give them out as party favors and not have to worry about them becoming lost or broken during the night's festivities.

New Year's Eve is a time when many people choose to consume alcohol. If alcohol is present at the event you're attending, novelty flasks and glasses are appropriate gifts. You can find everything from shot glasses to champagne flutes at party supply stores. Often, glass or plastic varieties of glasses are available decorated with "Happy New Year" or other festive, funny sayings. Novelty glasses are also practical. Glasses, shakers and other paraphernalia will be appreciated as hostess gifts or party favors; everyone will need a glass to toast the New Year.

    Glow-in-the-Dark Accessories

Glow-in-the-dark accessories, like bracelets and necklaces, are a fun, unisex gift option. Body paint, tape and other glow-in-the-dark or reflective decoration can add atmosphere to a house party. If you're going out to a club or a huge event, like Times Square, these accessories can help your friends spot each other in the crowd. This can help you avoid becoming separated or lost while out on New Year's Eve.

    Hangover Kits

Hangovers are the unfortunate result of New Year's partying. Put together gag "Hangover Kits" for your friends and relatives to help them start the year right. Find novelty pill bottles at craft or dollar stores and attach funny labels saying "Happy New Year Pills." Fill the bottles with headache and nausea medication, like Advil or Tums. To avoid any accidents, add a message that says which pills are which and only put in a couple of each. Add mints or gum to the gift bag. Individual instant coffee packets and cream cups or a gift certificate to a coffee shop could also be added. Other "Hangover Kit" items are sleep masks and novelty pajamas.
