With the help of television shows like the Food Network's, "Diners, Drive-ins,& Dives", Americans are beginning to once again turn to those tasty treat like the offerings at Dr Dawgs.
Their menu is hot dog / sausage centric and simply heavenly.
Dr Dawg proudly states on his web site, " I've earned my PhD (Professor of Hot Dogs) at the famed Hot Dog University".
It is clear that he put his studies to good use.
I first encountered the Doctor when he was prescribing his delicious solutions via his street cart.
I have been a fan of a good hot dog for a long time.
After one taste of the good Doctor's therapy of by hot dog I was hooked.
I must not have been the only one to feel this way.
Frequently people would stand in line to get a hot dog and I saw that he often sold out.
While the Doc still gets his cart out, Dr Dawgs has done an excellent job of creating a new restaurant that is interesting visually and yet staffed by warm and friendly staff.
These people seem genuinely interested in providing friendly and prompt service.
Although the hot dogs are top quality Vienna Beef and not to be missed there are many other fine choices on their menu.
There are a couple of notable examples.
One menu item that I have to recommend has to be the hand-cut French Fries.
These golden delights are about as good as a humble potato can get.
Another truly transcendent menu offering is the Doctor's duck sausage.
Bathed in a orange sauce this is one sausage that will not run a "fowl" of your tasted buds.
In researching this article I did not notice this on the web site menu.
Make sure to look for it.
If the Doctor can keep up with the excellent food and the incredible service of his staff it is clear that this place is likely to become a regional best choice.
It is likely to be one of those places that your children will bring their children.
Until the next time we talk, 1.
Continue to find food that is an adventure for you, 2.
Visit Dr Dawg's for the best dog around and some nice people too.
