- 1). Fit a standard phone jack cable to the "Line Out" jack on the rear of the keyboard. Connect this to an amplifier or powered speaker.
- 2). Turn on the M08 and use the volume slider dial on the left of the control panel to set the volume.
- 3). Connect a USB cable to the port marked "USB (TO DEVICE)" and connect the other end of that cable to the USB port on your computer. This enables you to record directly onto your digital audio workstation.
- 4). Press the "Voice" button to call up the voice mode. Scroll through the menu using the up and down arrow keys to find the drum kit that you want to edit.
- 5). Press the "Edit" button when you find the kit. This opens the parameters up for editing.
- 6). Press the "Common" button. This calls up the common display, which enables you to adjust the parameters and settings that are common to all drum sounds in the keyboard, such as effects, level and arpeggio. Use the up and down arrows to adjust these parameters and tweak the sound of the drums.
- 7). Press the "Key Edit" button to call up the key edit display. This lets you adjust the elements that are more specific to the selected kit, such as filter, oscillator and pitch. Use the up and down arrows to increase and decrease the parameters.
- 8). Press "Common," "F1" and "SF1" to rename the edited kit. Use the left and right arrows to select the letters to use in the name.
- 9). Press the "Voice" button again. Press "Key," "F1" and "SF1." This opens a key assignment interface on the LCD screen. From here, you can assign a drum instrument to each key on the M08. This is called drum-mapping.

Press the key on the keyboard to which you want to assign a specific sound. Use the left and right arrow keys to move the cursor through the menu of edited drum sounds. Arrange the kit instruments in an order that lets you play the keys intuitively, for example, start with the lowest pitched instruments and get higher as you ascend the keyboard. Repeat this process for each drum sound. - 11

Play the keys to create drum beats and rhythms.
