Arm Lift - Things to Consider Before Opting For Procedure

A brachioplasty, or arm lift, can be a lifesaver if you struggle with excess fat and loose skin in your upper hand area.
This cosmetic procedure entails reshaping the arm from the elbow to the underarm, tightening and lifting the skin.
An operation requires an incision from your elbow to the crease of your armpit, which the surgeon will then use to tighten the ligaments, remove unwanted tissues and clean up the general area.
An outpatient procedure that takes no more than two hours, a brachioplasty can be a welcome relief from the unattractive look and feel of your upper arms.
Once the surgery is finished, the incision will be closed with sutures and the area will be wrapped in an elastic sleeve to minimize swelling and encourage a healthy recovery.
Extra special care must be taken over the following weeks as the patient should not be lifting or carrying heavy objects or putting much strain on the hand.
Non-absorbable stitches must be removed two weeks after the operation.
Some surgeons may recommend a light exercise routine to keep the hands in top form and prevent any loss of motion after the hand operation.
If you can't decide whether or not you're the right candidate for an arm surgery, look to your age, genetics, recent fluctuations in weight and other factors to help you decide.
The best and most common candidates for the lift procedure have recently lost a great deal of weight, such as those who have had bariatric operation.
In such cases there is too much excess tissue to deal with naturally and surgery is the best option.
If you're in this situation, you should give serious thought to the brachioplasty procedure.
On the other hand, if you simply feel your limb is too flabby but don't have a great deal of excess skin and tissue, liposuction may be the simpler and more effective solution.
The process carries many associated benefits, most notably the self-esteem boost of having upper arms you're proud to show off.
The impressive results generated by a brachioplasty will contour your arm to its former glory and make you feel more youthful and attractive.
It's difficult to put a price on that kind of benefit.
On the other hand, there are risks associated with the procedure.
A surgery will leave a long scar from your armpit to your elbow and may be noticed by others for up to 24 months until it fades.
On top of the aesthetic factor, a lift also comes with medical risks you can expect from any major surgery.
All these things should be considered before deciding on a limb lift.
