Corn, eggplant, horseradish, potatoes, strawberries, sweet potatoes and spinach are favorite food for flea beetles. They will infest any leafy plant. Flea beetles leave a shot-hole pattern in the leaves they feed upon. - Use wood ash around the base of plants to control flea beetles in your vegetable garden. Keep the garden free of all weeds and garden debris. Regular cultivation also keeps populations under control.
