I am sure there is not one correct process or routine that we should do after we publish a new blog post.
It all depends on several factors in the environment we wander around, like time, children, our job, house chores, etc.
In my case, since I have a full time job plus children to play around with after hours of work, I can only spend a few hours (1 to 2 hours) to write and promote my site.
So knowing I only have few hours to spend, I make sure to maximize my time and make sure I do it consistently everyday.
Here is my personal routine after writing a new blog post.
Go to my Google docs account to pull out the Google doc spreadsheet where I keep a list of social bookmarking and networking sites as well as sites where I can send a ping to search engines.
Social Bookmarking and Networking Sites 1.
Go to delicious.
com account and save a new bookmark.
2.
Go to digg.
com account and submit a new link.
3.
While still on digg.
com account, I click search profiles and search for digg members who share the same interests and ideas as that of blog's content.
I do this for only like 10 to 15 minutes.
4.
After digg.
com, I go log in to my twitter.
com account and post a tweet to everyone letting them know that i have just published a new post on my blog.
I make sure to leave the url to my new published post.
5.
While still on twitter.
com, i go to search.
twitter.
com and do a search for people I can follow just like what i do with digg.
com.
Ping several search engines as follows: 6.
pingomatic.
com 7.
pingoat.
com 8.
Google Blog Search Engine Just yesterday, I decided to join two forum sites.
I will be visiting these forum sites to read and learn from expert bloggers who are members of the forum as well.
Also, will find threads that I can relate to and respond to and in which I can share information from my blog as well.

PMT forum This is only my procedure as a start.
There are plenty of other places I should be visiting to increase traffic on my blog.
However, for now I will stick around with these 10 easy procedures and when time and situation in the future will permit, more places will be added on the list.
