However, as we are enjoying ourselves there are several things that we can keep in mind that will be helpful in keeping us safe and they are: Sun Protection Wear sunglasses and a hat.
If children will be there with you, make sure that they are wearing a hat that cannot easily fall off, because if it do, the child may refuse to keep it on.
Do not forget to walk with some sun lotion and when you finish playing in the water, reapply it to your skin.
Hidden Items It is quite appealing to feel the grain of the sand giving way under your footsteps as you walk barefooted along the beach.
However, as you do, please keep in mind that broken bottles, rusted nails, shells, drug paraphernalia's and many other dangerous items may be hidden in the sand.
Lifeguards Make sure that you know where the lifeguards are and as troubling as this can be, some beaches do not have lifeguards, or they may not be there, when you are visiting.
If you or someone you know is lost or in trouble, they will be able to help you.
Swimming Perhaps you have heard the saying, the sea does not have a back door and this simply means, you do not have any protection when you are in it, well, that is just part of it.
Anyway, you need to be careful when you are in the water.
If you are or you are not, a stronger swimmer, do not go too far out into the waters and keep a very close eye on children, even when they are simply at the edge of the water.
Things can change drastically, because at one moment, they may be at the edge of the water and in the next moment, they may be in the water.
Digging The opportunity to build sandcastles and other structures is also another fun aspect of visiting the beach and children especially, look forward to this.
However, as you do that make sure you do not dig above your knees.
Some people may suggest it is okay for you to dig up to your waist and depending on your height, this is alright.
The main reason for this is that the sand could collapse on you.
Therefore, be extra caution with this.
