- 1). Cut a circular hole about 10 inches wide in the center of a Styrofoam brick about 3 feet square by 2 inches thick. This provides a space for your flower arrangement while leaving enough surface area for it to float.
- 2). Glue your cut Styrofoam brick on top of a second Styrofoam brick. Allow the glue to dry for at least two hours.
- 3). Place a large plastic cake container in the hole in the top Styrofoam brick. Fill the container about half full of water and slip a large cube of florist foam down into the water. The foam will soak up the water and keep your arrangement fresh longer.
- 4). Cover the Styrofoam bricks with banana leaves. Pin the leaves into place with green stick pins, making sure all of the foam is covered.
- 5). Snip the last inch of each tiger lily stem at a 45-degree angle and slip it into the florist foam. Build your bouquet from the middle outward, angling the lilies to create a dome shape. The shape should cover the florist foam and the plastic container. Slip your floating bouquet into the water.
- 1). Create a floating centerpiece with open tiger lilies. Choose lilies with very curled petals and widely open blooms. These flowers will float more easily than closed flowers or flowers with upright petals.
- 2). Snip the stem of each lily right under the bloom. Leave no more than ½ inch of stem on each flower.
- 3). Fill a glass bowl with water. Gently place your tiger lily blooms in the water so they float on top. The flowers will migrate gracefully over the water's surface and create a fresh, bright atmosphere at each table.
