Lucas and Philip
Outside, Lucas has just told Philip that their mom is marrying Stefano. Naturally, Philip is angry that his mother is marrying the same man who pit a hit out on his life. He warns that if Kate marries Stefano, she’s not his mother anymore. Lucas urges Philip to stop their mom from becoming Mrs. Stefano DiMera and surmises that Stefano is covering for her and keeping her out of prison, which doesn’t make any sense.
He suggests that this is cosmic payback for everything Kate has ever done.
Lucas recalls the night at the hospital when Philip was shot, and he saw the way Kate was looking at Stefano. He believes being married to Stefano would be worse than going to prison for Kate. Philip wonders if Kate even sees that Stefano is using her and paying him back for Tony’s death.

Victor has just barged into Kate’s bedroom and demands to know what in God’s name she’s done. “You’ve got a second, Kate? I’d like to come in and throw you out on your ass!” yells a furious Victor. He chastises her for going after Daniel, reminding her that the doctor is family. Kate retorts that Daniel is not family and fumes how the doc ruined her son’s life. Victor tells her to shut up and demands for her to leave. He blasts her for defying him. She reveals that she’s getting married and encourages him to congratulate her. “And is the warden going to officiate?” asks Victor. She declares that she’s not going to prison.
Victor reminds her that she confessed to Daniel about poisoning Chloe before she knocked him out and held him prisoner. Kate denies this ever happening, reciting the “innocent until proven guilty” theory. Victor sarcastically questions if she did a little online dating in between poisoning Chloe and planting evidence against Daniel. He asks if her fiancé knows she squeezes the toothpaste tube in the middle and takes her half of the bed out of the middle, and she tries to murder people when they get on her bad side. She liked it better when he was yelling at her, then finally reveals that she’s marrying Stefano. Victor laughs up a storm upon hearing this.
Victor doubts she’ll go through with the wedding, predicting that Philip will be out of her life forever. He wonders what she thinks Philip will do when he finds out his mother is whoring herself in Stefano’s bed. “This is YOUR fault!” she lashes out. Victor retorts that she has no-one to blame but herself. She admits that she doesn’t want to do this and hurt Philip, but insists that she can’t go to jail. Victor states that Philip would’ve visited her in prison, but if she marries Stefano, he’s out of her life for good.
Kate believes Philip will understand, reminding Victor that she was facing prison time. “He was facing death!” counters Victor. “Stefano had nothing to do with that,” lies Kate. Victor used to think she loved her children, but now believes Philip will see her for who she really is. “I’m a survivor, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that,” affirms Kate. “No, not ashamed, just alone,” concludes Victor.
Kate is later wearing a red dress and leaves a message for Lucas. Philip emerges and says she has some explaining to do. Kate confirms that Stefano asked her to marry him. “And in return he kept you from going to prison,” assumes Philip, who rehashes how she thanked Chloe for donating her bone marrow. Kate asks him to leave Chloe out of it. Philip confronts her about not calling him to give him the news about her wedding. Kate states that Stefano is calling the shots on the wedding. “You are choosing to get into bed with a man who wants me dead,” emphasizes an incredulous Philip. Kate yells that it’s not true about Stefano wanting him dead. Philip believes she doesn’t care about anyone but herself. Kate cries how she’s in this mess because she tried to help Lucas after what Daniel and Chloe did to him. Philip notes how she always blames other people. She admits to making mistakes, but stresses that she would never intentionally hurt Philip.
Philip encourages a distressed Kate to come clean and tell the truth, insisting that they can get Justin to defend her. She cries how everyone in Salem hates her, believing there are Bradys in the police department who would happily lie on the witness stand to put her away. She insists that she doesn’t have any choice. Philip begins to suggest that she can plead not guilty by reason of insanity, but she yells at him to stop. He points out the insane things she’s done and offers to face the music with her and stand by her. Kate cries how there are crazy people in an asylum. Philip warns that she won’t be his mother anymore if she marries Stefano.
Kate fiercely reminds Philip that she’s stood by him through everything and chastises him for turning his back on her when she’s down and out. He insists that he’s trying to stop playing these stupid games and figure out what makes them happy. Kate tells him he’s acting like a spoiled and naive child. Philip warns Kate that she’s only on the first circle of hell, insisting that Stefano is marrying her for revenge. “He will grind your soul into powder and enjoy making us watch,” daunts Philip. Kate yells at him to stop it, but Philip counters that she’s the only one who can stop this.
Cheatin’ Heart
Lucas gets off the phone before ordering a drink, remarking how he’s alone at the bar again. He sees two people kissing nearby and briefly imagines them to be Daniel and Chloe. Lucas ignores a phone call from Kate and sees Daniel and Chloe laughing nearby. They are joking how maybe Lucas’s mommy can pick his next girlfriend and laughs how Lucas will be better off alone. They disappear, and Lucas orders a Scotch.
Lucas continues to order drinks, and the bartender believes he’s had enough. He has another vision of Daniel and Chloe making fun of him again. This time, Maggie joins them in the laughter. He tells Maggie she was supposed to be on his side. “You were supposed to grow up, be a man!” she counters. Lucas yells at her to shut up, then doesn’t see them anymore.
