- 1). Create a corn stalk bundle for each porch post to be decorated. Wrap a length of twine or decorator ribbon at least twice around a group of two or three corn stalks near the top and bottom. Tie the twine or ribbon securely into a knot on the backside of the stalk. The upper and lower knots will both be on the stalk side that will be secured to the porch post.
- 2). Measure the circumference of the porch post at the points where you will be attaching the corn stalks. Cut a length of florist's wire that is about double the post's circumference.
- 3). Slip the florist's wire under the twine or ribbon at the upper knot. Pull the corn stalk gently until it is tight against the porch post. Wrap the florist's wire around the post. Twist the wire around itself until the top of the corn stalk feels secure. Bend the twisted wire down and tuck it into the back of the corn stalk.
- 4). Cut a second length of florist's wire that is double the circumference of the porch post. Use this piece to secure the bottom of the corn stalk. Slip the wire under the twine or ribbon, wrap it around the post and twist until the stalk base is secure.
- 5). Cut a length of twine or ribbon that is double the porch post circumference. Weave the twine in and out between the corn stalks at about the bundle's mid-point. Wrap the ends of the twine around the porch post and tie into a double knot. Leave the corn stalks in their natural state, or decorate with dried berries and twigs.
