- Purchase sheer cotton curtains, and hang them from the ceiling of your porch. You may surround your porch with these homey curtains, or you can use them to section off one portion of the porch. These simple curtains give your porch a more textured look without the need for a lot of color or complicated design. Allow the curtains to blow free, or sew small weights into the bottom to keep them anchored to the floor.
- Flowerpots are a quick and easy way to add some color to your country-style porch. You may grow flowers in your pots if your porch receives full sunlight, but if you do not have the light or the time to maintain the pots, use silk flowers instead. Fill the pots with floral foam, and stick the silk flowers into them upright. Use a metal rack to contain the flowerpots, or scatter them across your porch for a less restrained look.
- If you want to celebrate the passage of the seasons, purchase a hay bale and place it on one end of your porch. Surround it with gourds, like acorn squash and pumpkins, placing a few on top to give the arrangement some height, which gives you a harvest festival feel to your porch. This hardy display can be kept up until the snow starts to fall. Add a few rusty garden implements to the display if you want it to appear more elaborate.
- Wind chimes hung from the eaves of your roof provide your front porch with a sweet country feel while also creating a pleasant noise when the wind blows. Use a standard wind chime with steel pipes, or make your own by hanging small metal objects from a clothes hanger. A wind chime made out of discarded machine parts or discarded eating utensils gives your country porch a homey touch.
