- 1). Lay the plastic and the wood across two sawhorses in a well-ventilated area with back sides up.
- 2). Spread a small layer of contact cement over the surface of the wood and the plastic with a paintbrush. Let it dry for 15 minutes.
- 3). Lay the dowel rods across the piece of wood on top of the dry contact cement. Lay the plastic on top of the dowel rods. Square and flush the plastic to the wood.
- 4). Gently pull out one of the dowels while holding the plastic steady. As the plastic begins to touch the wood, make sure the edges align. When the wood and the plastic touch each other, they will permanently bond.
- 5). Slowly pull out both dowels, letting the plastic settle down onto the wood. Smooth it out and press it down. Place the block of wood on the plastic. Begin tapping the block with the hammer, working your way around the surface of the plastic. Do the whole surface. The hammer blows will bond the materials together.
