  Nags Head, North Carolina, sits outside the Albemarle Sound off the coast of North Carolina in what is known as the Outer Banks. It is less than 10 miles from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, where the Wright brothers flew the first airplane. There are several campsites in the Nags Head area from which vacationers can choose. Guests can choose a campground that has access to the beaches that overlook the Atlantic Ocean or Albemarle Sound.
  
  

Adventure Bound Campground

• Adventure Bound Campground is nine miles north of Nags Head. It is a tent camping-only facility located on the edge of the Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest. The facility has restrooms with showers, volleyball courts, badminton courts, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, picnic tables, fire pits for campfires, outdoor lounge furniture, surf boogie boards and a nature trail for hiking and bicycling. There is a boat launch less than one mile away. This facility is first come, first served with no reservations available.

Cape Hatteras KOA

• Cape Hatteras KOA is located 27 miles south of Nags Head. The facility has 330 total campsites that consist of six lodges, 37 cabins for rent and 287 RV and tent campsites. The park offers 30- and 50-amp electrical connections, water hookups, sewer service, a dump station, restrooms with showers, an on-site laundry room, picnic tables, barbecue grills, cable television, a swimming pool, propane sales, miniature golf, a video arcade and a meeting facility for group gatherings. There are pull-through sites available for camping vehicles up to 65 feet long. Reservations are available online or over the phone.

Kitty Hawk RV Park

• Kitty Hawk RV Park is nine miles north of Nags Head and has 105 RV campsites. The park is located within 100 feet of the beach that faces the Atlantic Ocean. The park has 30- and 50-amp electrical connections, water hookups, sewer service, Wi-Fi Internet and cable television. This facility does not allow tent camping. Reservations can be made by phone.
