Have you wanted to start your own online business but been frustrated in your efforts to find the one that is right for you? Well, you're not alone! Many people today report that they would love to make some extra money from home but just don't know how to get started.
And it really can be confusing.
When I first considered my online business and looked at all of the options available my head spun for almost 2 days straight! There were just so many options, and every one of them sounded as good as gold.
But I knew better! Like you, I have heard the stories about sites that sound too good to be true, and then turned out to be not good at all.
I was determined to not waste time, to not waste money, and to find a real business, a business that was well suited to my personality and desires.
And a business that would not become a second job, but rather one that would create free time and help me achieve my financial goals.
Happily, I found a business that is perfect for me.
And I know you can do the same.
So how can you find the business that's right for you, the business that will produce the income and time freedom that you want and deserve? The best place to start is to use my five- point checklist below.
This is the same checklist I developed when finding my perfect business.
I hope it works as well for you as it did for me.
Step One - Avoid Get-Rich-Quick You know this in your heart, but I'll go ahead and say it right here just so we both have a chance to agree.
There is no such thing as a get rich quick! Sure, there are plenty of sites that will tell you that you can get rich quick.
And sure, there are plenty of sites who will promise you that you will earn thousands of dollars per sale.
But these sites simply make succeeding online sound too easy.
And while succeeding online is possible for almost any person, it's simply not that easy.
Step Two - Get The Right Knowledge Now that you know how important it is to avoid the hype, let's move toward getting the right knowledge.
The first thing to do is answer a few questions and know how you prefer to work.
Do you like working with people or working alone? Do you like to write or to create products? Do you know much about advertising? How many hours a week, can you work? How much money do you have to start? Knowing the answer to these basic questions will help you make a great start and build a solid foundation.
More importantly, they will help you decide which way to go when it comes to doing business online.
You see, you will basically have one of two choices.
One, you can sell someone else's product and earn a commission.
This is called being an affiliate or reseller.
Two, you can create your own product and sell that.
This is a simplification, but basically you will be selling something either for yourself or someone else.
This is why Step 3 is all important! Step Three - A Proven System You simply must align yourself with a company that has a proven system of success.
Succeeding online can be complicated.
And nothing in our backgrounds or education has prepared us to create web pages, write selling copy or set up autoresponders.
Yet all of this, and more, will usually be required at some point.
Happily, there are many companies that have done this "legwork" for you and can offer you a "business in a box" type of system to make the work easier.
Be sure to check out the company you are considering and make sure they offer you a system that makes sense to you and one that is working for other people right now.
Step Four - The Right Team Working for yourself does not have to mean working by yourself.
The fact is, working alone in your home at night (which is what most first-time online business people do) can be isolating and frustrating.
This is why it is vital to have a support system.
Someone to encourage you.
Someone to teach you.
Someone to answer your questions.
Be sure to find a team that will inspire you while never pushing you to do things (like make cold calls) that are outside your comfort zone.
Step Five - The Right Process If you are like me, and like 99% of people who start online businesses, you are going to be doing this in your "spare time".
That's sort of a joke for most of us, because we simply have no time to spare these days! But you are going to have to find some time and devote it to your online venture.
This is why it is vital that you find the right process.
When I say "process" I mean simply the actual steps you must take before you can make money.
If an online business is asking you to do things you don't know how to do, like building a website or writing a book, then it will take that much longer to make any real money.
This is why it is vital to find a business you can "plug" into and beginning earning quickly.
Some businesses that fit this description include many affiliate marketing sites, some resale rights businesses, and some courses about how to start an auction business.
No matter your goals or the time you have available, let me encourage you with this.
There are almost half a billion people online worldwide, and many of them go online to buy things.
If you are careful and thoughtful, and do a bit of homework up front, you really can find an online business that is easy, profitable and (perhaps most importantly) fun! I wish you only the best.
