- 1). Place your car in the shade, or start this process during the late afternoon or evening to ensure that your car is not in direct sunlight or high heat.
- 2). Wash the exterior of your car thoroughly with warm water and soap. Dish soap is acceptable, but soap specifically formulated for cars can be purchased at auto stores.
- 3). Dry the exterior of your car, and ensure that no residual dirt or dust remains.
- 4). Apply the waxing material to your towel. Begin waxing the scratches on your car with circular motions. Remember to apply moderate pressure on your car.
- 5). Remove any excess waxing material with a clean towel.
