Don't you love it when you get to snuggle down in a cozy couch, a grandchild or two nestled in your arms, and an interesting childrens book or five to read to them? Me too! It's fun, it leads to delightful family memories, AND it's wonderfully helpful and downright educational for your grandkids! Last week, I got to enjoy one of the free review copies of a very cute childrens book from WaterBrook Multnomah, The Dragon and the Turtle.
It's a colorfully illustrated picture story book that your grandkids will enjoy reading or listening to or both.
I loved the way the authors used repetitive wording throughout to help the grandchildren get good practice - but kept it lively and interesting.
I also very much appreciated the positive character qualities it emphasized like perseverance even when it's not easy and how to be a good friend.
The story is all about a little turtle who has gotten lost, and his new little dragon friend who helps him find his way home.
Along the way, they learn more about each other and the world around them.
And at the end, they get to enjoy delicious cookies while we grandparents get a yummy sounding cookie recipe, perfect for sharing with the grandkids.
There are even suggestions in the back to help you discuss the book with your grandchildren, emphasize some of the positive qualities in the characters that you would like to encourage in them, and help reinforce their reading comprehension.
