Guide to Styling and Decorating Your Bookcase

A bookcase is a versatile piece that can really serve a number of purposes in a home aside from just housing your non-fictional book collection.
They can showcase your art collection, serve as a spot to house your family photos, and even act as a room divider if the size and dimensions of the bookcase works.
Styling the bookcase is important.
Many homeowners tend to throw a bunch of books in every which way onto the shelves, making it look rather messy and unkempt.
Consider some of these quick ways to style your bookcase so that it serves a purpose while looking good doing it: Don't Use Every Shelf for Books Despite the name "bookshelf", the unit doesn't necessarily have to house only books.
Instead, mix things up a little to give the unit some personality and life.
You can choose to use shelf for a specific purpose, or mix each shelf up with a couple of different artifacts.
For example, one shelf could have books on one half and vases on the other.
Another shelf could have picture frames on one half, with flower arrangements on the other.
Or else mix them all over the shelf so they're not necessarily sharply divided.
Keep Consistent With a Colour Scheme If you're the type to organize your books in an alphabetical order, then the idea of sticking to colour coordination isn't such a foreign idea.
After organizing your shelves' items by category, consider organizing each category by colour.
By using colour coding on your shelving unit, you give the bookcase some pop.
If your room already has a certain accent colour, try to incorporate that into your colour coordination of your shelving unit's items.
Take the Minimalist Approach It's common for homeowners to want to have all their prized possessions clear on display for all to see, but over-stocking your bookcase with photos, art, books and sculptures can overwhelm the bookcase, and actually make it look more like clutter than a platform upon which you want to showcase your best belongings.
Select the most important things that you'd like to have out.
Make sure they all somewhat go together, so it doesn't look like a big mishmash of debris.
You'd be pleasantly surprised at what a difference a minimalist approach can take.
Come Up With a Theme Stick with a colour palette or certain theme to keep things harmonious on your bookshelves.
No matter if you're storing books, vases, pictures, snow globes, or any other piece of belong you own, it's always wise to stick to a theme.
The theme can be associated with colour, era, fabric, and so forth.
For example, keeping all belongings in a neutral palette can create a sense of harmony.
Or, having all your artifacts sticking to a rustic theme can also create a feel of flow.
Come up with a theme, and stick with it.
All it takes is a little creativity and imagination - and maybe even a little professional designer assistance - to create the perfect space in your home!
