- 1). Situate your pool table in an area that does not get an abundance of bright sunlight, heat or water to avoid fixtures from fading or warping. The middle of a room would be an ideal spot for your pool table, as opposed to near a window.
- 2). Cover the pool table when nobody in your home is using it. A tarp will keep dust off of the trim and felt top and can also protect against moisture.
- 3). Vacuum the felt top of your pool table only in cases of extreme dust or debris. Use a low-suction setting on your vacuum cleaner to avoid ripping the felt.
- 4). Wipe down wood trim, rail caps and legs of a pool table regularly to remove dust. The frequency will depend on the level of dust in your home. Use lemon oil or wood cleaner with a soft cloth. Leather trim and pockets can be cleaned with a mild saddle soap.
- 5). Clean the pool balls with a mild dish detergent. Dry the balls before storing them in the pockets or elsewhere on the pool table.
- 6). Refrain from using your pool table as a dining table, desk or chair. The table is not meant to withstand the weight of someone sitting on it, and the finished can be permanently ruined by food stains.
