- 1). Scatter helium balloons throughout the party room. Tie them to the backs of chairs, use pushpins to attach the streamers to a wall or tie them to the centerpiece. Suspend the balloons approximately 4 feet above the table to allow eye contact and conversation at the tables.
- 2). Cover each table with a tablecloth to give it an attractive look. White works well for casual as well as formal parties. If you have a theme, use a color that coordinates with the theme. For instance, red-and-white checkered tablecloths for a hoedown or different pastel shades for a luau party.
- 3). Toss themed or other colorful confetti over the tablecloths. This adds sparkle and color to the tables.
- 4). Place centerpieces on each table to add color and texture throughout the room, and enhance the theme, if possible, such as with vases of tropical-looking flowers for a luau. A jaunty cowboy hat or a tin can filled with wildflowers is appropriate for hoedown centerpieces.
- 5). Hang on the walls banners, garlands and colorful poster boards decorated with pictures that suit the theme. Use strong tape or pushpins to attach them to the walls.
- 6). Set themed accessories around the room to add to the party atmosphere. For instance, hay bales positioned in corners add extra seating for the hoedown guests. Wind chimes, inflatable palm trees, leis and tiki torches add ambience to the party room if you are hosting a luau.
