Freezing Genital Warts

Human papilloma virus is the cause behind genital warts.
This disease is one of the most common STDs.
Both men and women are affected but the case is mostly among women.
It is caused by sexual contact with an infected person, birth control pills, etc.
these genital warts are not curable diseases and therefore can cause a lot of pressure on the people suffering from them.
There are several methods that can be used to treat genital warts in including freezing genital warts, also known as cryotherapy.
There are home remedies, clinical remedies as well as medicines available over the counters but since the genitals are more sensitive than other areas, even without warning many people choose to consult a doctor first.
The doctor will carefully examine the area and confirm whether the problem is really genital warts or something else.
Then the doctor will decide on the solution and the method which will have to be used.
The doctor can remove the warts by surgery, laser therapy, electrocautery, etc.
in these methods the genital warts are treated by either burning or cutting them from the skin.
The method of freezing genital warts to remove them from the genitals is called cryotherapy.
This method is very popular and can be done by the doctor.
The equipments needed to perform this are a cup, two hemostats and liquid nitrogen.
The liquid nitrogen is put into the cup and then one of the hemostats is dipped into the cup to freeze.
Then this hemostat is carefully placed on the warts.
At the same time the other hemostat is kept dipped in the cup with liquid nitrogen.
The doctor is very careful not to let the hemostat touch other unaffected area because it may harm the normal skin.
A small quantity of local anesthesia may be needed in this case.
This method of freezing genital warts and shedding them off within a few days is not painful.
In most cases the patient will experience a sting and not more than that.
This method is very effective and works almost every time but it is just a short term solution to the problem.
Genital warts re-appear from time to time and therefore the person who got it once must keep coming back for follow up check ups.
The best way to keep the disease at bay is to take precautions against it.
