Back Pain - Prevention is Better Than the Cure

The spine consists of 24 small bones called vertebrae, the spinal cord runs through a hole in each of the vertebrae from which the body's nerve roots are attached, which links them to the brain.
Any pressure on the spinal cord can cause anything from pins and needles to acute pain.
By staying in good physical condition most back pain can be avoided.
Stretches, aerobics, and exercise which strengthen the back are very beneficial in preventing most back pain.
As most cases of back pain are muscular in origin, the pain usually happens as a result of the way a person uses, or misuses, his or her body.
Bad posture in walking, sitting or even standing can have a negative impact on the back, pulling and pushing the spine out of alignment and resulting in sprains, spasms, and weakness in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Sleeping in the wrong position or on the wrong sort of bed often exacerbates the problem further so paying a little bit more for a proper mattress with good support is a good investment.
Being aware of such simple things like getting out of a chair, getting dressed, getting out of bed can greatly reduce the chances of getting back pain, and changing life long bad habits through an ongoing process of exercise and self-awareness will enhance your chances of a pain free life.
There are many different causes that result in back pain, it is not only important to identify what the problem is, but how the problem arose in the first place.
This will determine which type of treatment is necessary for each individuals problem back.
If you see an orthopedic surgeon you will get cortisone, and maybe surgery, if you see an acupuncturist you will get needles, and if you see a chiropractor you will get adjusted.
While prevention is better than a cure there are lots of treatments available to counteract back pain, but when it comes to a chiropractor Cork residents are lucky to have numerous options on their doorstep.
