Philadelphia is the home of the cheese steak sandwich, the Eagles, the Flyers and the Liberty Bell. It also happens to be the home of some fantastic seafood restaurants. Whether you are looking for oysters with a view, salmon ceviche from a world-class chef's menu or octopus in a small neighborhood hot spot, Philly has something for you. - Eric Ripert is the Culinary Director of 10 Arts Bistro and Lounge on Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts. Ripert's menu features some of the finest seafood dishes available in the city. This restaurant draws in foodies from all over who wish to get a sample of Ripert's creations without venturing to New York, where the James Beard Foundation named him "Best Chef in New York City."
10 Arts features high-end seafood dishes, including tuna carpaccio, steamed mussels, a fish burger with oven roasted tomato, fennel and saffron aioli, as well as Pennsylvania brook trout with baby bok choy and hazelnut brown butter sauce, according to the restaurant's website. The dining room is comfortable and classic with high ceilings, a fireplace and large windows looking out onto the city. The view is almost as impressive as the food.

www.hyatt.com/gallery/nineteen/xix.html - Dmitri's, located on the corner of Third and Catherine in Queens Village, is perhaps one of Philadelphia's favorite seafood restaurants. It only seats 35, is run by a former rock guitarist from a 1970s band called the Burning Dogs and its specialty is octopus. Yes, it's all true.
This BYOB Greek and Mediterranean restaurant can get packed because of its local popularity, but there is now a second location nearby on Fitler Square. Patrons can choose from a variety of seafood dishes including the famous octopus grilled and coated in olive oil and herbs as well as whole pompano and scallop skewers. This restaurant lacks the slick uptown glamour of some of the other names on this list, but that is part of its appeal. It's a neighborhood eatery with a style all its own.
