- Liriope is deer-resistant. Deer will eat it only occasionally and the damage will rarely be grave. While liriope is not a favorite plant for deer, if they are having a hard time finding food, no plant is really safe.
- Other deer-resistant ground covers include pachysandra and lily of the valley. Juniper, vinca and mondo grass are even more unlikely to be eaten by deer than liriope. Stay away from English ivy and wintercreeper if deer damage is a concern because these are more likely to be damaged.
- Liriope is a good choice for areas with light shade and wet soil. Other deer-resistant plants suitable for these growing conditions that would complement liriope are daffodils, bugleweed, sedge and spiderwort.
