Coping With Panic Attacks - Understanding and Treating Anxiety

Though a panic attack is a very scary experience, it is actually a normal body reaction, a coping mechanism if you will.
Panic attacks are a way for the body to deal with stress and stress-related predicaments.
A panic attack is really a physical and emotional response to fear, shock, and apprehension.
Often, we react to stress by either confronting it or making a decision to avoid it.
This is the classic "fight or flight" response.
Stress comes in many forms, be it relationship problems, work-related problems, financial difficulties, dreading an upcoming test or evaluation, and phobias to name just a few.
Symptoms of an anxiety attack include dizziness, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, numbness and tingling, chills, sweating, and nausea.
In extreme cases of anxiety an individual's physical and mental health may be threatened.
Anxiety and panic attacks can get in the way of normal day to day activities.
Not only can it leave the person in a deep state of depression, but excessive anxiety can cause physical weakness.
Over time these calamities can cause a person to lose the ability to make rational decisions.
It is often learned that individuals with severe anxiety have failed in their personal relationships and even had trouble maintaining a steady job.
The majority of us are able to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression, but there are a few who simply do not have the ability to cope.
If you or someone you love, is having a hard time dealing with stress, I urge you to look for help.
It is treatable and beatable.
