I remember when I had my first attack.
I was driving down the road and suddenly the symptoms came rushing over me faster than I could think.
I think the worst part was not knowing what was going on.
My heart began to race, my breath started to shorten, I was having my FIRST panic attack.
I ended up having to pull over to the side of the road to calm myself down.
I had no idea what was going on and I didn't like the feeling! Whatever was happening to me had to stop, that's all I knew.
I reluctantly let the situation slide on by hoping it wouldn't happen again and that I'd be fine, but over the next 6 months I would begin to have more panic attacks more frequently.
I knew this had to be stopped.
Soon after I decided to visit the Doctor, where I was told that there actually ARE ways to rid myself of these panic attacks.
I guess for all these years I have had bad anxiety but never knew the word to match up to my problem.
I always just thought I was a constant worrier, and that it was just who I was.
Little did I know there was a way I could fix it.
A few things I was told to help prevent my attacks were: 1.
To Get Enough Sleep.
If you aren't getting enough sleep, your body is already over stressed.
Without the proper energy you can easily become more prone to an attack.
It is also beneficial to make napping a habit, as it is a quick power cycle that's needed throughout the day.
2.
Breathing.
One thing that can help you to fight off an attack is to concentrate heavily on your breathing.
Deep breaths IN and OUT do the trick well.
It sounds simple but helps TREMENDOUSLY! The program basically teaches you that you can control your attacks and beat them before they even start.
Relaxation techniques, along with breathing and movement techniques are all important when treating any panic/anxiety disorder.
The key to beating this disease is to use the proper methods to combat your attack before they even start.
Needless to say I was referred to a program that gave me great results and now I live a panic free life.
No longer do I ride down the road in fear of having a panic attack.
I was taught how to actually relax and overcome these attacks if they ever do occur, (which they haven't.
) So if you do suffer from these attacks, remember there ARE ways to beat the disease, with patients and perseverance, you will soon overcome your attacks.
