As all parents know, their child is a very unique individual, no matter what age they are.
There is no-one else the same as them in the whole world and as a birthday is such a special day for a young child, we want their birthdays to be unique to them.
To cater for their personality and their own tastes.
This can sometimes be an issue, there are limiting factors such as budget and space available but I aim to give you a few pointers and what you can do to make the most of your children's birthdays.
Theme The most beneficial thing you can do when organising a birthday for your child is choose a theme for the party to run along.
This theme should be something that your child likes, is appropriate for the age group and is general enough to allow for a wide array of interpretations by other adults for a varied and colourful party.
For example a Lego theme for a party would be perfect as there are so many options here for both boys and girls to choose from; you will get unique costumes from other kids and allows you to largely tailor the party to your budget and other constraints.
If however you decide the theme should be "the joker from the 2nd Lego batman game", this is obviously far too specific and you would struggle to have a bright, fun and well organised party with this theme.
Location location location The next thing to consider is location.
If you have a large budget, you can specially rent an appropriate venue.
Perhaps you could rent a gazebo, some tables for refreshments created by a caterer, a bouncy castle for the kids and enough decorations to fully fit out the venue in the theme you have chosen.
If your budget is a little tighter, perhaps the venue could be a room in your house, or even your back garden.
You could hand make a lot of the decorations to really add colour to the party.
You could hand make the costumes and get the whole family involved and have fun at the same time.
Whatever the location, it is important to decorate it to the theme, an empty room or undecorated garden or hall may struggle to help the kid's imaginations along.
Did someone say cake? Of course one of the defining factors in a kid's birthday party comes down to the cake.
Again this will vary with budget, from a professionally designed birthday cake from a cake specialist, to a cake baked and decorated by the family.
Either of these children's birthday cakes are fine but if you make it yourself, remember to stick to the theme, make it nice and colourful and most important make enough of the sugary goodness for everyone to get a piece.
