- 1). Determine whether your state requires registration and titling of an ATV. Do this by checking your local Department of Motor Vehicles or Parks and Recreation website.
- 2). Check with the person you bought the ATV from to see whether they have the title. If they don't, follow the procedures in your state for obtaining a "duplicate" title.
- 3). Fill out your state's application for title form. The form might be called "Application for Title and License" or "Application for Title and Registration" or something similar. There is a nominal fee for getting a duplicate title that is generally less than $20.
