Pajaro Valley High School teacher Tanya Thienngern, 37, of Aptos, California, was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old male student and for providing him alcohol.
On June 10, 2010, Thienngern surrendered to police after an arrest warrant was issued based on information the police had collected during a month-long investigation.
Thienngern was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors, one count of endangering the person or health of a minor, and one count of degrading, immoral or vicious practices of drunkenness in the presence of children.
Police believe that Thienngern, an English teacher, may have had sexual relations with more than one student.
According to her attorney, she has denied having sexual contact with a student.
