- 1). Select the appropriate sized extractor drill bit. The bit you use will depend entirely on your vehicle. Choose a bit that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the bolt itself (not the bolt head).
- 2). Place the drill bit into the drill's chuck and tighten the chuck. Then create a groove in the bolt head by drilling on low speed in the center of the bolt you want to remove.
- 3). Increase speed once you have created a groove in the bolt head. This will begin to destroy part of the bolt. This is normal. Once you've drilled into the center of the bolt head, stop.
- 4). Put the drill rotation speed in reverse and back the drill out. The extractor drill bit has teeth on the bit that will grab onto the bolt and destroy the bolt as you back it out of the engine head.
