Workouts When You"re Out of Town

In this article I'll teach you some options for keeping your workout when you're going out of town.
I'm just about to head out myself.
Our actual destination is the woods to go hunting.
Not deep in country, super survive against all costs, and the elements, ultra primitive, hope you can kill what you can eat with a stone type hunting, but we're not going to be that close to town either.
So I know I'm going to be away from any normal gym or facilities to do my regular training.
Now you have a couple of options here.
Many times it's best if you're going on a short trip to take the time off and rest.
Rest is not a dirty word in training.
Many times you'll come back stronger.
Another option here is to do a really brutal workout before you leave so that you're forced to rest on your trip and you don't feel guilty about taking the time off.
Because I have some specific things I want to work on right now, I've chosen to continue working out while I'm gone.
I'm going to take a little dumbbell set (read one adjustable dumbbell set and 200lbs).
It's relatively small and easy to toss in the back of the truck.
I'll be working a lot on my one arm press as well as one arm row, one arm one leg deadlifts, two handed cleans, and a few other little exercises.
I'll knock a set or two off every day, it won't take much time, but I'll get plenty of blood flowing and it'll keep me on track.
I may take one day and do a really high volume workout to help crank up my endurance as well.
As you travel it's easy to take along a few simple things to keep your workout together.
Bodyweight exercises are always a great option and learning a variety will help you out.
In fact that's why we've created a lot of the products that we have so that you have the ability to have the perfect exercise for whatever conditions you might find yourself in.
Rubber cables are also a perfect choice because they're light, portable and easy to store.
A short cable set like our isometric ring, a medium cable set and even a long cable set like the Portable Power Jumper, still take up almost no room and no weight.
Believe me there's an almost endless array of versatile, hardcore exercises you can do with them.
Adapt, improvise and overcome.
Everybody should be familiar with that Marine Corps motto.
Another option here is to simply use what's available to you.
You can find stones to lift just about anywhere and you can get a great workout for just about everything while using them.
Hill or stair running, bodyweight or stone-based roadwork, and car or truck-pushing all make an excellent workout.
Adapting in your training is one of the most important things you can do.
It's certainly important for keeping in shape while busy or traveling.
Don't let anything be an excuse.
