- Flappers chose a pale look. Later in the flapper era, Coco Chanel inspired a tanner look but the pale, white foundation is the most popular. Before applying the makeup, cleanse and moisturize your face. Then use a cream or cream-to-powder makeup for the best coverage. Use a sponge brush to apply, starting at the forehead and working downward. Then set your foundation with a light-colored finishing powder. Dust on powder with a wide brush from top to bottom.
- For the perfect flapper girl eyes, apply a light coat of skin-tone make up to eyelids. Then use a dark eyeshadow like a gray or navy blue on the bottom eye lid. Keep the dark shadow from getting too high near the eye. Line the eyes with black eyeliner. You should start on the inside of the eye and draw outward. Then apply black mascara. You could wear fake eyelashes to finish your glamorous look.
- Flappers wore their lipstick bright and mostly red. The fashion of the day was to have smallish lips preferably in the "bow'"shape. If you have large lips, first apply foundation to your lips. Then use a lip liner to create a new lip shape. Use a lip brush to apply your red lipstick color. Top off your flapper lip look with some clear gloss, which will complete your flapper makeup.
