M4 makes high-quality exhaust systems for popular sportbikes and off road dirt bikes. Theyre based out of Dallas, Texas in the United States. For the 2013 road race season, M4 has partnered with Honda to pilot Benny Solis on a CBR600 in the AMA GoPro Daytona Sportbike Class. Having personally been passed by Benny at many track days at Autoclub Speedway and Chuckwalla Speedway I can tell you this kid is wicket quick! Ill definitely be cheering for him. M4 is also involved with Chris Ulrich on his CBR1000 in the AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Class as well as the GEICO Suzuki Motorcycle Road Racing team. This could be one of the reasons that M4 sells a lot of Suzuki pipes. Oddly enough, the M4 GP Exhaust for the ZX6R and the Z1000 also sell very well.
Most performance part manufacturers do very well when they develop a relationship with a racing team. The manufacturer gets to develop and fine tune their product and gain a good bit of exposure (especially if the team does well). In 2012, The GEICO team won the Daytona Sportbike Class and the bike was feature in many publications. It seemed to solidify M4 as a front running performance exhaust company the same way Suzuki did for Yoshimura in the early-mid 2000s with Matt Mladin.
M4 exhausts are precision made for each application in their USA plant. M4 offers various GP, high-mount, race and street slayer styles in both full and slip-on exhaust sytems. M4 is best known for big power gains versus the cost of their systems and their GP style cone mufflers. Many systems eliminate the catalytic converter which makes way for more power and a deeper, throatier sounding exhaust note a growl, if you will. If you have a chance to buy an M4 exhaust I suspect youll be happy camper especially at their price point. GP slip-on exhaust systems start at right around $300.
Ive heard some chatter recently that the welds or the construction of certain M4 Exhaust systems isnt as top notch as, say, Akrapovic or LeoVince. Im a firm believer that you get what you pay for when it comes to most things in life and for the price point, M4 exhausts are a bargain for those looking to spruce up their bike with a few extra ponies and a sick throaty sound. I think most of the hard core performance riders will go for a full exhaust system and pair it with a Dynojet Power Commander or a Bazzaz fuel controller anyways. So if youre looking for a big of power and a whole bunch of sound, I d recommend going with an M4 GP slip-on exhaust system for your sportbike.
