Wine Clubs Are Great

HONESTLY...
I'm as far from being a wine connoisseur as you can probably get, but I do enjoy more than the occasional glass and I think I have a pretty good idea of what taste good for the average wine enthusiasts.
That being said I've found it's not always the wine that makes wine taste good.
What does that mean? That makes no sense right...
well consider this - Do you remember the occasion, the people, the conversation or the laughter just as much as the wine? You see in my opinion half of the fun of drinking wine are the reasons we choose to un-cork a bottle and who we share those bottles with.
Fortunately I've never been challenged with finding a good reason or good people to twist into a cabernet, my challenge comes in choosing a wine.
I typically spend my time looking for labels where the graphics appeal to me, I tend to gravitate toward labels with Red Trucks or Australian Outbacks.
A behavior that basically leads me to the same wine over and over again.
Pretty boring and predictable which is no way to go through life.
About 3 months ago I was doing some online surfing when I stumbled upon WSJ Wines.
com.
We had a good size summer party on the calendar at our house and I knew we were going to need wine for the party no matter what.
I decided look a little deeper and do some research.
I looked at costs, customer service (I called the number to make sure someone actually picked up the phone) and selection.
I reviewed the terms and conditions to make sure I could easily cancel.
After looking at a several clubs I finally put my money on the WSJ Wine Discovery Club (let me qualify this research by telling you it took me an hour not days, we're not talking about a lot of money here) And, you need to remember I'm not a wine expert, I'm the guy who thinks the reason, the people, and the occasion can make a wine taste good.
Point being if you're stranded at home in a snow storm, the office gets shut down and the roads are closed you will be really happy you have a WSJ wine membership! Here's a look at what you get with the intro offer:
  • Warburn Estate Shiraz 2008 -
  • Château Allegret 2008
  • Stonewall Pinot Noir 2008
  • DeLoach Private Collection Pinot Noir 2008
  • Collezione di Paolo 2008
  • Grande Réserve de Gassac 2008
  • J Opi Malbec 2008 -
  • El Bombero 2008 - 2 Bottles
BONUS - When you sign up WSJ includes an incredible wine opener that is valued at $50 bucks.
The wine opener alone is worth the cost of admission here in my opinion.
OK Let's add it up.
12 bottles of wine ( Market value $15.
00/bottle) 1 cool wine opener (Value $50.
00) 12 bottles x $15.
00 = $170 1 cool wine opener = $50.
00 Total Value $220.
00 YOUR COST $90.
00 Having good wine handy for good times and good friends = GOOD STUFF Keep in mind that you get 12 unique bottles of wine once every 3 months, so if you do the math...
means you drink one bottle of wine a week.
If you are like me with my friends one bottle usually doesn't cut it nor does it take into consideration that when you visit someone else's house it's nice to bring a bottle of wine.
You can cancel any time, they have a full money back guarantee on every bottle they send you so if you don't like something just give them a call and get a refund.
Also, a lot of these wines are sold exclusively to WSJ wine members, so your not going to find them at the corner package store.
One last thing to note is that you're joining a club where the product is going to be shipped to you once every three months and your second shipment is going to cost you more than your getting started order, more like $139.
00 plus shipping.
Still for 12 bottles of good wine it works out to about $12.
00 a bottle delivered to your door providing you live in a state that allows wine delivery.
