- 1). Mix the icing with the food coloring until it reaches the desired shade of green.
- 2). Insert a fine tip base into the piping bag, then spoon some frosting into the bag. Place the tip on top of the base, outside the bag and screw the ring over the tip.
- 3). Pipe short sections of grass onto the cake. Press the frosting from the bag and pull the blades up and out in multiple directions to create bunches of grass with protruding blades. Alternatively, apply frosting to the cake with a fork. Press the fork into the frosting, then pull it up and out in alternating directions to create the blades.
- 4). Move around the cake, adding sections of grass in different lengths until the cake or area of the cake is covered. Shape the blades with the tines of the fork if necessary.
