How to Tell If You Are Suffering From Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is one of the most common sleeping problems today, but a lot of people who are suffering from it are unaware that they even have the disorder.
Basically, this condition is characterized by the frequent stopping of a person's breathing during sleep.
This sleeping disorder occurs in two varieties - obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.
The obstructive variety happens when there is a physical blockage that closes up the airways, preventing the flow of air into the body.
The central variety on the other hand occurs when the brain fails to send a signal to the body to breathe, and the breathing stops even though there is not physical obstruction.
Telltale Signs of Apnea Sleep Disorder As mentioned earlier, a lot of people suffer from this disorder without even knowing about it, so how can you tell if you have it or not? There are actually a few telltale signs of the disorder that you can look for.
Once you notice yourself experiencing these symptoms, you should immediately go to a doctor to verify whether you do have sleep apnea or not.
One of the most common symptoms experienced by people, is waking up in the morning feeling tired, even if they have slept 8 hours the previous night.
They may even wake up with a headache or a feeling of fatigue.
Some will also be able to recall waking up frequently during the night, usually out of breath.
Although it is common for people not to remember why they have woken up, many report that it is due to the sound of their own snoring or because they were struggling to breathe.
There are also times when the person suffering from these symptoms does not realize that they are having problems.
Instead, it may be their sleeping companions that see these signs.
So if you are sleeping with someone who frequently wakes up or snores uncontrollably, let them know right away and encourage them to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis.
Sleep Apnea Supplies If you are diagnosed with apnea sleep disorder, your doctor may suggest using the help of a sleep apnea machine and mask.
These assist with your breathing and getting a good nights sleep.
Treatment for sleep apnea will depend mostly on which kind of apnea it is.
But whether it is the obstructive or the central variety, the symptoms are generally the same.
In other words, it is really important to see a doctor as soon as the symptoms become evident.
With proper medical examinations, you will be able to get the treatment you need.
