Pressure Points to Cure a Headache

    Pressure Point Locations

    • The most commonly used pressure points are located on the hands, feet and head. Foot massages can help with a headache, even if you've never used pressure points before. There are also special socks available online and in massage stores that reveal pressure points. Put them on, and the color-coded areas match up with a specific area of your foot. The different areas are labeled to tell you where to massage for different symptoms.

      The hand contains a pressure point located between the pointer finger and the thumb. This spot can be massaged easily regardless of whether you're in a crowded area or sitting at home alone. The pressure points in the head are also easy to reach and provide the fastest relief. Pressure points are located along the hairline, at the temples and at the base of the neck. The corners of your eyes and inner corners of the eyebrows work as well.

    Massaging Pressure Points

    • When using a pressure point, apply pressure to the area using the surface of your finger or thumb instead of the tip. Start by applying a firm, even pressure on the pressure point and stop if you feel pain. Rub in small circles, massaging the area. Let your fingers sink deeper into the muscle to help relieve the pressure and soothe the headache. Find a speed and pressure that is comfortable for you. Concentrate on relaxing and breathing deeply as you massage. Every person is different. Go with your instincts on what works for you. If a pressure point feels good, then don't let someone try to tell you that you are doing it wrong.
