Throughout a school year, students often look forward to holiday parties. It is a time to exchange gifts, enjoy treats and be involved in a variety of games that highlight the fun of the holiday season. In classrooms that participate in holiday parties, students can enjoy plenty of interactive party games. Games that incorporate crafts, teamwork and even sweet treats are sure to please the students. - A word construction game involves taking a sentence or a phrase and having students attempt to make as many new words as they can from the letters provided. This can be adjusted for a Christmas party by having phrases that deal with the Christmas holiday. For example, the phrase "Happy Holidays" can be given for students to begin with. In an allotted amount of time, the students will have to see how many new words they can create. To provide an extra challenge to the game, students can be asked to only create words that deal with the Christmas season. Because it is a Christmas celebration, the winner of the game can be rewarded, perhaps, with a holiday treat.
- A creative and interactive game for children to participate in is "Santa's Race." Divide the group of students into two teams. Each team will have one member take a turn competing against a member of the opposite team. The teams will be given a large bag that is supposed to be Santa's bag used to deliver presents. Each team will also be provided with a stack of "presents" that can simply be made from empty boxes or shoe boxes covered in gift wrap. The objective of the game is for each team member to relay against one another to see who can fill the bag with gifts in the shortest amount of time. The game can be repeated until every member has had a turn.
- A game that will get students up and moving is the candy cane toss. Similar to a game of horseshoes, the class can be divided into teams or play individually. Each team (or individual) will take turns tossing oversized candy canes to see whether they are able to land the candy on a designated cone. The team (or individual) who is able to come the closest will receive all of the candy canes used in the game after it has been completed. This is also a unique game to incorporate into the physical education classroom during the holidays.
