Guide Review - Big Bang Theory - Episode 2.5 - "The Euclid Alternative"

After driving everyone nuts by making them cart him around, the gang decides that Sheldon needs to learn how to drive.

Physics in This Episode

  • X-ray Diffraction - The episode begins with Leonard entering the apartment in the morning exhausted. He indicates that he was up all night using a free-electron laser for an x-ray diffraction experiment.
  • Supergravity - Sheldon indicates that he didn't get his license at sixteen because he was working on supergravity, which is one of various approaches toward a theory of quantum gravity.
  • Friction - At the DMV, Sheldon argues about the questions. One asks when the roads are most slippery, and he points out that it's when there's a thin coat of liquid that reduces the coefficient of friction to nearly zero, but not thick enough to introduces a new source of friction.
