Bird Cage

  Buy an antique bird cage and paint it a summery color, like sunny yellow or mint ice cream green. (If the peeling, patchy paint look appeals to you in a shabby-chic sort of way, leave it alone.) Attach a card that says "Card Box" to one of the cage bars with a wooden clothespin and display the cage on the gift table. Fruit Box

  Set out a small fruit box, such as the kind you buy at the grocery store filled with several pounds of clementines. Affix vintage fruit labels (or printed reproductions of them) to the ends if the box comes without decoration. Sweet, fresh fruit, like clementines, are a staple summer snack, so make use of the box they come in for your summer wedding.
  
  

Bucket

  Collect cards in a metal bucket–either the plain galvanized buckets often used in gardens to hold flowers or in a child's antique beach pail. Skip the brightly colored plastic pails you can pick up at discount stores. While they are bright and cheerful, they also look cheap and could even be construed as "tacky." Antique beach pails provide a perfect balance of quirk, charm, color, dignity, and summer beach spirit.
