- 1). Open the TIFF file in its native graphic editing application. TIFF files may be edited with a variety of graphics programs including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw Graphics Suite and Roxio Creator.
- 2). Click the "File" option from the top navigation bar in the graphics editor and select "Save As..." from the context menu.
- 3). Select the .pdf file type from the list of available file types in the dropdown box. In Adobe Photoshop, this option will be listed as "Photoshop PDF".
- 4). Rename the file, if desired, in the File Name input box.
- 5). Click the "Save" button. A copy of the TIFF file will be saved as a PDF file.
- 1). Right-click on the new PDF file and select the "Open With..." option.
- 2). Select the "Adobe Acrobat" option. The PDF file will open in the Adobe Acrobat application.
- 3). Click the "Document" option from the top navigation bar.
- 4). Select the "Recognize Text using OCR" option from the context menu.
- 5). Click "Start" to begin the OCR process.
- 6). Click the radio button next to the "All Pages" option and click "OK".
- 7). Click the "Edit" button to select options for formatting the finished document.
- 8). Click the "OK" button. The OCR engine will now proceed through the document converting images to rendered text. When the engine encounters an ambiguous character, the OCR engine will produce a dialog box asking the user to type the letter, word or phrase.
- 9). Type each ambiguous character into the dialog box, if/when prompted and click the "OK" button. When the OCR engine has scanned the entire document, a dialog box will appear notifying the user that the process has finished. When finished, the TIFF to PDF OCR conversion is complete.
