- 1). Access the message inbox by clicking the phone menu and selecting "Messages." This may vary depending on the model, but in most cases there will be a picture of an envelope. In here you will see a list of messages already received.
- 2). Send a text message from another phone to your phone. This can be done by opening the message inbox, select "New", type the message, and then select your number from the address book. The address book should appear automatically when you click on the "To" button. Press "Send."
- 3). Look at your mobile phone display. When the message comes in, you will see an alert on the screen. If your phone volume is on, there will be an accompanying sound or beep. It it is on silent, the phone may vibrate.
- 4). Click the "Menu" button; in most cases this will automatically open the SMS message. Some phones may ask you if you wish to read the message now. If you click the red "Hang up" button on the phone, the alert will disappear from your screen, allowing you to read it later.
